Dr. M. S. Parmar, one of India’s distinguished
textile scientists, has been appointed as the Director General of the Northern
India Textile Research Association (NITRA), Ghaziabad, effective May 8, 2025.
Having previously served as the Director, he will continue to lead the
organization's academic arm, NITRA Technical Campus (NTC), fostering excellence
in textile education and innovation.
With an illustrious career spanning
over 32 years at NITRA, Dr. Parmar has earned recognition as a visionary in
textile chemistry, protective textiles, unconventional fibres and textile
quality control. His remarkable contributions to the field include - completing
28 government and industry-sponsored research projects, filing 15 patents
(including 5 granted), and mentoring 48 students across various academic
levels.
Dr. Parmar’s impressive academic
contributions includes 140 technical presentations, 137 journal publications
and authoring or co-authoring 17 books. His recent breakthrough in thermal
layers for extreme cold climate clothing has garnered national acclaim, earning
personal commendations from PM Shri Narendra Modi and Textile Minister Shri Giriraj
Singh.
In recognition of his contributions
to the textile sector, he was honored with the prestigious “Hon. F.T.A.” award
by the Textile Association of India for 2022-23.
