India-EU Collaboration Gains Momentum As HSN ECOTEX, NIRSA, and GATS Drive Green Textile Transition

HSN ECOTEX, in collaboration with NIRSA and GATS, hosted Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) at H.R. Overseas, Panipat, during the INTA Mission to India from October 27 to 29, 2025. The visit highlighted growing cooperation between India and the European Union in textile waste recycling, sustainable manufacturing, and circular economy initiatives.

The European delegation, which included key members such as Cristina Maestre Martín De Almagro, Juan Ignacio Zoido, and Brando Benifei, engaged with Indian industry leaders including Pradeep Kakkar, Mukesh Bansal, Rajeev Garg, Dhananjay Kakkar, and Parvinder Kadian. Discussions focused on aligning India’s rapidly expanding textile recycling capabilities with Europe’s Green Deal objectives and advancing the “From Waste to Value” vision.

The collaboration reflects India’s rising leadership in sustainable textiles. The country’s textile recycling capacity has grown over 25% in the past three years, supported by new technology investments and government incentives under the Make in India and Green Industry Transformation programs.

The proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is expected to further accelerate joint efforts in sustainable trade, technology transfer, and green investment. Industry experts predict that the FTA could unlock US$2 billion in new textile trade opportunities within the next five years. Industry leaders at HSN ECOTEX reaffirmed their commitment to creating a global benchmark for eco-friendly textile production, positioning India as a hub for circular innovation and sustainable manufacturing.
